What is NLP? Definition and History
When the first time I’ve heard about NLP, I can’t stop asking in my mind about “What is NLP?” since many people from the human resources department is buzzing about how NLP can work through some issues and tune up someone’s working performance, some even said that it can be used on dating activities. Pretty interesting aren’t they?
After doing some Google research, I finally came to understand that NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is some science about how people behave developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in 1970′s era. Of course it’s not just any ordinary behavioural science, NLP focused on defining the language structure and behaviours usage that will give people excellent results in what they do. The NLP founders claimed that this NLP modelling systems consists of theories, methods, practices and techniques of liguistic, neurology and computer science fields, and that’s how they named with Neuro Linguistic Programming.
To save you from a boring history of NLP’s, you would simply found it in many seminars, book, audios, videos and workshops as a form of training to influence your behaviour or to change your emotional states using the modelling systems NLP haves. There are several methods that will be taught in NLP training, and you may find it different from teacher to teacher, but nevertheless, the purpose is the same, which is to bring the best performance of your self or others (e.g. to cure phobia, overcame shyness etc). We will cover more info about NLP methods, training and usage more in this blog. So stay tune on this Mind and Body Health Blog.
